Marc’s latest work is continuing his exploration of veneers, creating inter-curving sculptural pieces based on natural and life forms.
Marc is pushing this construction method forward with a more organic fluidity, sharp crisp lines blend into sweeping curves and sections interweave and flow in and out with neighbouring sections. A reference to the Art Nouveau period of the 1900s can be seen, but the inspiration for Marc’s work and the movement are the same, a natural form, pieces inspired directly by nature. The latest style of work and the extreme shapes created has origins dating back over ten years.
Marc first used the heavily carved shapes in a series of large scale bowls in cherry in 2001.
