Our two-day wood finishing course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the finishing experience and get some practical, hands-on experience. You’ll learn the techniques and products used by the studio. Wood finishing is not a ‘dark art’ – it’s a woodworking craft using simple techniques that can help you to finish your work to a professional standard. You’ll produce samples of all the finishes in oak, walnut, cherry, maple, and sapele. We’ll cover sanding, scraping, raising wood grain, wood stains, wood bleaching, UV protection, oils, waxing, brushing and ebonising, and if time allows, a little repairing.
Tutor: Marc Fish.
Testimonial for Marc’s course:
“This very thorough course was so useful. Covering a great variety of types of finishes possible, Marc offered many invaluable tips and insights gained from long experience to avoid the problems us less experienced encounter! We had the opportunity to practice all the methods he taught and the knowledge gained makes choosing and applying the possible finishes so much more rewarding. The relaxed and easy going teaching made for a most enjoyable course.” Jeremy, Oct 2025.
